About Us
The Punjabi Cultural Council (PCC) is a registered non-governmental organisation dedicated to protecting and promoting the Punjabi language, culture and heritage across India and beyond. Formed with a clear commitment to preserve linguistic and cultural identity, the Council brings together scholars, artists, social activists and community leaders who share a common purpose: to strengthen Punjabiat for future generations.
The PCC works at a time when many regional languages in India facing the pressure of declining usage and shrinking cultural space. The Council believes that Punjabi is not only a language but a living expression of history, culture, memory and collective wisdom. Its programmes strive to build awareness, encourage participation and renew pride in the Punjabi traditions through education, outreach and cultural engagement.
The Council is actively involved in advocating for Punjabi as a second language in states with significant Punjabi speaking populations. This includes Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The PCC pursues this goal through constructive dialogue, policy engagement and partnerships that support India’s multilingual character.
Beyond advocacy, the Council organises cultural events, exhibitions, seminars, competitions and exchange visits to showcase the richness of Punjabi literature, arts and heritage. It supports research, publications and creative projects, and develops platforms that connect Punjabi communities around the world.
The PCC also recognises the role of social responsibility in cultural and heritage preservation. The Council runs awareness campaigns on environmental protection, public health, social welfare, youth development and community empowerment, ensuring that cultural growth goes hand in hand with social progress.
