Aims & Objectives
The Punjabi Cultural Council has identified a broad set of objectives to fulfil its mission. The key objectives include the following:
- To promote, preserve, propagate and popularise the Punjabi language along with the cultural, artistic and historical heritage of Punjab at national and international levels, and to offer guidance on matters related to these fields.
- To establish Council units at international, national, state, district and block levels to strengthen efforts for the promotion of Punjabi.
- To design, manage and support programmes, exhibitions, seminars, cultural events, fairs and other activities that encourage wider participation in Punjabi language, culture, arts and heritage.
- To arrange, coordinate and, when necessary, finance visits of cultural teams, scholars, academicians and officials within India and abroad for cultural exchange projects and events.
- To undertake any activity that helps advance the aims of the Council and supports the meaningful preservation and promotion of Punjabi identity.
- To publicise the Council’s aims and initiatives through posters, publications, awareness campaigns, competitions, seminars, workshops and outreach programmes at national and international platforms.
- To honour individuals, institutions and organisations with awards, certificates or citations in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Punjabi culture or social service.
- To deepen awareness of Punjabi language, Punjabiat and Punjab’s cultural traditions while highlighting their place within the broader civilisational identity of India.
- To involve young people and diverse communities in constructive cultural activities, friendly competitions and creative projects that strengthen social harmony.
- To engage children and teenagers in enriching physical activities and artistic pursuits that support their personal development.
- To create awareness on key social issues such as environmental protection, cleanliness, conservation, sustainable living and public health.
- To promote awareness on social welfare causes including de-addiction, prohibition, anti-smoking, dowry prevention, women empowerment, human rights protection, traffic safety, pollution control and consumer rights.
- To work for the welfare and upliftment of poor, marginalised and rural communities by supporting programmes that improve their living conditions and opportunities.
